Robin E. Brown

Robin's Biography

Political & Non-Profit Fundraising History

Robin’s involvement in politics began in 1992 due to an initiative on the Arizona ballot. She became a volunteer for the non-profit organization whose sole purpose was to defeat this initiative. On the eve of the successful defeat of this bill, the executive director asked Robin to become a full time staff member.  Her position, raise money! This was her first experience at fundraising and she loved it!  Thus began her ascent into politics and fundraising.

In 1996, Robin worked for President Clinton’s Arizona campaign as the assistant director for Women’s Outreach. Democrats were highly successful, for the first time since 1948; Arizona elected a Democrat to the presidency.

In 2000, Robin was approached by the Gore/Lieberman Presidential Campaign and offered the position of finance director for Arizona. Taking a risk, she left her full time position and health care behind.

Following this, she then became the first finance director for the Arizona Democratic Party under the leadership of Jim Pederson. In late 2001, Robin left the Democratic Party to continue a journey as an independent fundraising consultant.

During the years, Robin volunteered on numerous campaigns, and she became the first Chair of the AZ State Democratic Party’s Women’s Caucus as well as President of the AZ Women’s Political Caucus. Robin believes in the importance of volunteering, to assist candidates and issues that have an opportunity to create change.

In April 2005 she and her husband, Wesley moved to California. While in California, she became the campaign & finance manager for candidates running for various board positions. Now living in Oregon, thanks to telecommuting, she is currently the finance director for Mary Kim Titla for Congress (AZ CD1) & locally for Joe Charter’s campaign for Jackson County Circuit Court Judge.

Robin has held a number of varied positions, campaign manager, field director, and volunteer coordinator, but no matter what other duties she may perform, she always raises money! Robin understands the reality of politics, “it takes money to get elected”, therefore, she respectfully says to all candidates and potential candidates, “be prepared to ask for money”.

She fondly refers to her political involvement as a virus that will not go away!
